Yellow Day!

Our yellow monster today was really cute: “Yellow, Yellow, sat in jello!” and our poem was “Yellow is a lemon, Yellow is star, Yellow is the sun in the sky so far!” We learned the importance of being yourself and making good choices with the story Dandelion by Don Freeman. We also made cute Lion puppets.  Thanks to Holly’s mom for sending yellow Oreos for us to enjoy during snack time!

Another story with the lesson that you need to just be yourself and make good choices was Gus the Bus by Howie Schneider.  It was about a yellow school bus and we worked on rhyming words, story details, and then we wrote about riding on a bus.  This was our first real writing activity and they did a fabulous job writing complete sentences and sharing their stories with the class.

I was so proud of their efforts to write and share their creations with the class!!  These stories and art projects are hanging in the hallway outside our classroom for others to see.  We have had a lot of compliments on how cute they are and how well they are writing already.
